Bird Watching - Big Canoe has species that most big city folk just don't see. With many habitats including evergreen and hardwood forests, meadows, lakes, and brushy areas, birds love Big Canoe. There are many trails that wind through these areas. This results in a good variety of birds that are relatively easy to view. Big Canoe residents and visitors have spotted over 100 species in Big Canoe. What will you see?

Fitness and Spa - Big Canoe's 16,000 sq foot workout facility is available for you and your family to use. With an indoor pool, indoor racquetball and all the state-of-the-art equipment and classes, your heart won't skip a beat here at this club.

Golf - You may not be expecting this type of course, Big Canoe's 27-hole championship golf course, designed by Joe Lee, has mountain peaks for a backdrop. It winds its way through peaceful valleys by rushing streams and clear lakes and soars to the top of cliffs where you can watch your drive sail into eternity.

The Choctaw, Cherokee and Creek 9-hole courses offer a wide range of difficulties to test golfers of all levels. The sights and sounds of rushing creeks, waterfalls and abundant wildlife complement the beauty of the course.

The course has been rated as one of the top 20 courses in Georgia.

Tennis - Big Canoe is home to one of the finest tennis complexes in the Atlanta area, complete with two indoor courts, four outdoor hard courts, and four outdoor clay courts, with four of the courts lighted for night play.

Swim Club at The Lake - The swim club offers unlimited access to picnic areas with grills, paddleboats, canoes, beach volleyball and the Rockslide which is adjacent to the Nature Valley hiking trails. Arts and crafts, summer camps and many other seasonal activities and events take place at the club's pavilion.

If it is peace and relaxation you seek, grab a lounge chair on the beach of Lake Disharoon and enjoy the breath taking views. Pools are open from May until October with limited hours in in-school months.

Swim Club at Wildcat - This pool is equally entertaining as the other pool and it will be your choice which one you choose to visit, or perhaps you will go to both. The Wildcat pool has amazing water features for kids and adults alike in it's shallow pool. Tables and chairs at the pool and a picnic pavilion allow your family to spend a day at the pool with ease.

Boating and Fishing - Rent a boat, bring your fishing gear and make a day of it catching all kinds of fish and big ones at that! There are 3 lakes at Big Canoe and a large marina. The lakes at Big Canoe are one of the prettiest sights you have ever seen.

Shopping - Shopping is all around and in Big Canoe.

Dining - Big Canoe also offers any kind of dining that you could imagine. And, the views are bad either.

Chapel - Big Canoe also has it's own chapel with Sunday services, concerts and sponsored events.

If you choose to leave Big Canoe, no problem.  Apple orchards, small town shopping, festivals, more hiking trails and the Georgia mountains are within 30 minutes.  There is a train that is awesome as well very close by in Blue Ridge.

And of course, you are close to Atlanta (within one hour drive) and you are also right on the foothills of the Georgia Mountains where you can find many small, interesting antique towns, crafts and incredible sight seeing. Amicalola Falls as well as many other state parks are an easy drive and offer hiking, fishing and other outdoor events.
